Jackie Budelier has played a key role in transforming financial operations at JCP Construction.
As a CPA with a background in public accounting, internal auditing for a Fortune 50 company, and 30+ years of hands-on experience in the manufacturing and construction industries, Jackie has brought a wealth of knowledge to our team and has a unique take on what customers want from their construction manager.
“They want a company, of course that performs the work safely, timely and with high quality,” Jackie explains, “but they also want a company that is financially strong, pays subs and suppliers on time, knows where it stands at all times relative to the budget for each project, and sends timely bills for accurate costs based on the contract.”
JCP’s financial operations have been Jackie’s main focus since joining as CFO a year and a half ago. The charge to modernize the accounting department, add staff and clean up processes and procedures is especially critical. The company’s dynamic growth required a more efficient financial system.
“This is difficult to do with paper-based accounting systems, dated procedures, and a limited accounting staff,” Jackie says. “To help streamline processes and accuracy, we hired a degreed experienced accountant, Ty Johnson, with over a decade of billing experience to handle billing and we ensured our Accounts Payable Specialist was fully trained to further enhance productivity and accuracy. This sets the foundation for financial accuracy in real time.”
Jackie’s professional journey has transformed her into a well-rounded accountant with diverse experiences, a broad skill set, and a deep understanding of the bigger picture.
“With my background in auditing, taxes, and as a Controller, I’ve gained a comprehensive understanding of what makes a company financially sound. Seeing the department become more efficient and knowing the decisions we make help guide the company’s development is incredibly fulfilling.”
What also motivates Jackie each day is the entrepreneurial spirit of company founders, Jalin, James and Clifton Phelps, who care about improving Milwaukee.
“It’s rewarding for me to be part of a first-generation, family-owned company that is focused on growth and innovation in the community. I see in JCP so many accomplishments over 15 years. It is truly a great time to be here.”
